**These books by EA are wonderful resources for gently overcoming social anxiety disorder, or social phobia. Although written for applying the 12 Steps to healing emotional problems in general these books also are an enormous help for people who suffer from any form of Social Anxiety.

Many people have overcome their social anxiety or social phobia problems using the time-tested principles in this book. The result of gently but persistently applying the principles in this book is the reduction or Elimination of Anxiety Problems!!

3) "Co-dependents Anonymous"-- The Book By CODA About Codependence And 12 Step Recovery (Codependence is the syndrome where we worry too much about what others think and put others needs before our own):

(SPECIAL NOTE: Although Codependency itself may not always equal full blown social anxiety disorder syndrome, codependency issues tend to underly Social Anxiety, and so addressing this can be helpful-- However SPA also maintains that Codependency recovery does NOT address all aspects of social anxiety disorder. PLEASE NOTE THIS SPECIAL CAUTION: SPA suggests that care be taken to avoid highly confrontational, conflict-oriented or aggressive or cynical approaches to codependency recovery as they may aggravate rather than help ones social anxiety problems. SPA / SoCAA maintains generally that a combined practice of increased compassion for oneself as well as increased compassion for others gains the best results for social anxiety sufferers. Although the healthiest compassion involves an element of detachment and healthy boundary setting practiced at the same time. [See SPA Literature in Section 2 Above for more informtation on the SPA Program of Recovery]. ***SPA however has no opinion on recovery approaches for problems other than social anxiety disorder & Social phobia).

CODA groups can also be helpful although they are not exclusively focused on Social Anxiety Disorder or Social Phobia issues like Social Phobics Anonymous Groups are. SPECIAL NOTE: SPA/SoCAA ONLY recommends those CODA groups that emphasize a compassionate and detached rather than an aggressive or highly confrontational approach to boundary setting; A healthy balance of inward and outward compassion being preferable to turning self-interest into an all-consuming pursuit. These caveats maximize the potential benefit for the social anxiety sufferer and are not a commentary on any outside enterprise as a whole. )

4) The book:

"Fearless Living: Live without Excuses and Love Without Regret, by Rhonda Britten (A Powerful Resource Using Techniques Oriented Towards Being True To Yourself And Taking Steps Towards Living The Life Of Your Dreams In Order To Shift Directly Out Of Anxiety). Although not directly focused on social anxiety disorder, the techniques in this book have helped a number of us to gently and gradually overcome social anxiety nevertheless. ."
